Platinum Recording Artist, D.Woods of Danity Kane, and MTV’s Making The Band Celebrates Her “It’s A Girl” Birthday Tour


LOS ANGELES (July 7, 2008) - Over the July 4th weekend, platinum recording artist/songwriter D.Woods of Danity Kane (Bad Boy/Atlantic) and MTV’s hit series ‘Making the Band’ celebrated her 24th birthday red-carpet style with celebrity friends, performances, and an "Its A Girl!" birthday theme, with parties in Atlanta and New Orleans. D.Woods’s tour started in Atlanta, known for its hot celeb live music events, at Luckie Food Lounge on July 3rd and then traveled to New Orleans on July 4th in spirit of the Essence Music Festival. She celebrated her birthday along with several music talent including Aubrey, Shannon, Dawn and Aundrea of Danity Kane, Bad Boy label-mate Gorilla Zoe, R&B artist Lloyd (Def Jam/Universal), super producer Bryan Michael Cox, Akon’s hot new group Rock City (KonLive/Interscope), Project Runway’s Michael Knight, recording artist/songwriter Shanell (Ne-Yo’s Compound Ent), Universal artist/songwriter Mika Means, Chauncey Black (Interscope Geffen A&M Records) and many industry guests.

In Atlanta, rocking a white Betsey Johnson ruffled dress and a pink tiara, D.Woods and her songwriting crew The Girls Club (D.Woods, Shanell, and Mika Means) took the stage and kicked off the night with an 80s tribute performance to Prince’s “I Would Die for U” with ATL-based live band State of Emergency, followed by Aubrey of Danity Kane’s cover of Madonna’s “Like A Virgin” and Shanell’s “Hate This City” and cover of Sheila E’s “Glamorous Life”. Rock City lite the stage with their new single “Losing It,” and Mika Means took us back to Susanne Vega’s “Tom’s Diner.” Danity Kane performed “Sucka For Love” off their new album and D.Woods ended with with Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing.” The renowned DJ Jazzy Jeff (Fresh Prince of Bel Air) provided the music and D.Woods’ birthday cake was custom prepared by Cold Stone’s Creamery, while Lloyd serenaded her by singing Happy Birthday in front of everyone. Guests received pink cotton candy and “Its A Girl!” party favors. The bash was sponsored by Hennessy, Luxirie by L-R-G and VIBE Magazine and was co-produced by RNB Live Atlanta and Laura Wright of Avid Exposure.

On the next stop to New Orleans, supporting the Essence Music Festival, D.Woods’ tour was just getting warmed up. After checking out Kanye’s show at the Superdome, D.Woods partied the night away at Chocolate Bar in New Orleans on July 4th with another pink themed affair. Along with ‘The Girls Club, manager Jennifer Horton (11-16 Entertainment), and Chauncey Black, D.Woods enjoyed the celebration. Chauncey Black dedicated his hit single ‘Its your Birthday’ to D.Woods while she blew out her candles on her Cold Stone Creamery cake. Fans, locals and out of towners for the festival enjoyed drinks from Nuvo Sparkling Vodka, Remy Martin, a Cold Stone’s Creamery custom cake and party favors. VIBE Magazine and Jeff Williams from the Chocolate Bar also sponsored the event which was produced by Laura Wright from Avid Exposure.

Currently, D.Woods is gearing up for another season of MTV's Making the Band with Danity Kane which airs Aug. 6th and looking forward to the release of Danity Kane's hot new single "Bad Girl" featuring Missy Elliot. D.Woods also continues as one of the faces of women's fashion line Luxirie by L-R-G for summer 2008. Her ads have been featured in Seventeen & XXL Magazines, and she will be teaming up with Seventeen for several upcoming fashion events featuring Luxirie this year.
