Houston, TX - August 4, 2008 - It's official! Paul Wall has just been added to the star-studded lineup for the Kingwood Summer Jam! Brave New World's own Shyan Selah has already been named as the Special Guest Performer for the event.
On August 16th from noon to 7pm the Kingwood Town Center will be alive with booming energy from Houston's finest rap and hip hop artists to ever do it. However, this isn't any regular summer concert, but a bonafide charity event. Proceeds will go to the families of two local students tragically killed in a car accident in May as well as a scholarship fund for both Kingwood High School and the brand new Kingwood Park High School.
Organized by local entreprenuer, Lamar Berry, the Kingwood Summer Jam will feature hometown favorites such as Mix Tape master artist OG Ron C, (founder of the Houston independent rap record label, Swishahouse), Slim Thug, Lil Flip, and Mike Jones. Other artists slated to perform are Fat Pimp, Big Tuck, Big Pokey, Lil L, Trae the Truth, Kiotti, Lil Will, Trapstar, Go DJ's, Lil O, The Jimmie Hunter Band, Jimbo, Bandi Garcia and American Idol Top 24 finalist, Sundance Head.
As the only non-Houston native to be invited, Shyan Selah has been given the honor and title as Kingwood's special guest for this most charitable event. This President/CEO of Brave New World, Inc. and the Spokesperson & COO of the Jimi Hendrix Foundation, will be performing songs from his highly anticipated debut, Brave New World, in stores September 2nd. The long-awaited album will be released through High Powered/KOCH Entertainment.
Berry, who's organizing the Summer Jam in order to lift the community's spirits, couldn't be happier with the artists' response to the cause saying: "It's not often you have artists of this magnitude willing to donate their time by coming to the suburbs to perform for a local community."
Tickets purchased before the event are $20 and $25 the day of. Tickets are sold at Pirates Cove Car Wash and online at www.ShowClix.com, keyword: "Kingwood." As this is a charity event, aligned with the Kingwood High School All Sports Booster Club, all ticket purchases are tax deductable.
