Sonny Cash has more than enough paper to live up to his name and a lot of love for hip hop. He got his first record deal at the tender age of 19 and he’s here to prove that he’s destined to take over the rap game. His new single is “Dat Girl Fine” and it’s guaranteed to be the anthem of the summer!
Sonny Cash embodies that elusive “it factor” and his natural charisma and startling good looks landed him a modeling contract with two of the biggest names in the fashion industry, Ford Models and Zoli. He was raised on a steady diet of hip hop and rap music for as long as he can remember Sonny’s life was bright with opportunities; he was offered basketball scholarships and more modeling contracts after school but he decided to leave all of that behind for the drama of the streets. However, he quickly gave up his colorful past when he started to see friends pass away and family members get sent away. Sonny decided to return to his first love, music. Sonny’s uncle, Joe “Bean” Esposito, who sang “Heaven Knows” with Donna Summer, “You’re the Best” in the Karate Kid, wrote “Bad Girls” and was nominated for a Grammy for Flashdance, Staying Alive and “Piano in the Dark” with Brenda Russell, scheduled a meeting for him with Select Records. The ill fated label was responsible for all of Kid N Plays hits, but the label folded almost as soon as the ink on Sonny’s contract was dry. However, Select still had time to send him on a college tour, and other shows, opening for N.O.R.E., Big Pun, etc.
It hasn’t always been easy for Sonny as an MC. One label actually told him they didn’t feel comfortable signing a white rapper and that taught Sonny his first lesson, “When you’re dope you’re dope. When I can put on my headphones and get taken to another place that’s what I want to do with my music.” His music reflects his life and every verse expresses his emotions and provides a little window into Sonny Cash’s world. “Fast Trip” is a song about his Father and about people wheeling and dealing in the streets. “Dat Chick Fine” is self-explanatory; “Hip Hop” is all about Sonny’s love affair with hip hop.
Sonny Cash is going to prove all of the doubters wrong and give all of the believers something to be proud of when his single “Dat Chick Fine” blows up this summer!
